Lola Jaffe was born in New York City, New York and has lived in San Antonio, TX, Fall River, MA, Providence, RI and Stockbridge, MA. She attended Carnegie-Melon, Pittsburgh, PA; Our Lady of the Lake College, San Antonio, TX; and Columbia University, NY. Among her many cultural and philanthropic involvements, Lola is currently Founding President/Chair of the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Centyer, Inc., where she headed the campaign to restore the 100 year old Mahaiwe Theatre, located in Great Barrington, MA. She is also currently Vice President and Secretary of the Jaffe Foundation; a past member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee at Jacob's Pillow Dance Center in Becket, MA; Overseer Emeritus of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; and past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Berkshire Opera. A special focus of Lola's has been to establish a program designed to expose Berkshire High School students to the fine arts and performing arts through trips to New York City during the school year. Lola organizes and participates with her students on these events. The program is supported by a fund established by Lola and her husband Edwin at the Berskhire Taconic Community Foundation --- ALFEA (Anne Levinson Fund for Experiencing the Arts) and continues throughout the summer to provide local high school students throughout Berkshire County the opportunity to attend all Main Stage performances at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, located in Stockbridge, MA. Lola currently resides fulltime in Stockbridge, with an alternative residence in New York City. She has four children and six grandchildren who live in various locations throughout the country.
